What is the Ventra U-Pass?
The Ventra U-Pass provides low cost transportation to students in the Chicago Metropolitan area by providing unlimited rides on CTA buses and trains. East-West University will participate in the program for the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer terms.
Am I eligible for the Ventra U-Pass?
All full-time, on-campus, degree-seeking undergraduate (12 quarter hours or more) are eligible for Ventra; part-time students are NOT eligible for the Ventra U-Pass nor are they assessed the Ventra U-Pass fee.
When is the Ventra U-Pass active?
The Ventra U-Pass is active for an entire quarter. For Spring 2014, Ventra U-Passes will be active from April 7th – June 20th.
How do I register for a Ventra U-Pass?
If you have not registered for Spring quarter you will need to do one of the following :
First time and Re-Entry students only :attend Ventra U-Pass event to have your picture taken on April 4th 2014 on the 4th floor West building for.
Continuing students have to see Ms. Amra on the 8th floor in room 836.
How do I get my Ventra U-Pass?
CTA is moving to the Ventra system, all Chicago based, full-time students will be required to be issued a Ventra U-Pass card in the fall term, and will be charged the Ventra U-Pass fee. Students will use the same card during their entire time at East-West University; the Ventra card expires after 5 years.
What will I need to pick up a Ventra U-Pass?
You must have an East-West University photo ID and your East-West University Spring Schedule to pick up your Ventra U-Pass.
My Ventra U-Pass was lost or stolen, what do I do?
Bring your student ID, a photo ID, and $50 cash to the Financial Aid Department and we will order you a new card. A card takes 7 business days to arrive, and then will be available for pick up.
Can I lend my Ventra U-Pass to someone else or sell it?
No, the CTA Ventra U-Pass is personalized with your photo and a special CTA ID number. The Ventra U-Pass is not transferable and will be confiscated by the CTA if it is misused. CTA maintains the right to inspect your Ventra U-Pass and or ask for another form of identification.
Does my Ventra U-Pass work on Metra or Pace?
Unfortunately, no. The Ventra U-Pass is only good for trains and buses operated by CTA. Metra and Pace don't currently offer discounts to college and university students. Students may use the Ventra card as a standard transit card on Pace buses only. Pace is not part of the U-Pass discount. Students pay the full fare on all PACE bus routes, Ventra allows you to pre-load with funds for use between terms and on Pace buses.
I have a balance on my card, what should I do?
If you have a balance on your card for whatever reason make sure that you pay that balance off because your upass will not work unless you do.
My card appears to be defective. What should I do?
If you think that your card is defective make sure that you call Ventra number on the back of your card to get information about your account. If by any reason Ventra customer service is not helpful to you please go to Ventra office located on 165 N. Jefferson Chicago, IL 60661.
New in 2013:
CTA announced a new Ventra U-Pass starting in Fall 2013.
Some of the new features include:
· Issued once every 5 years. Students no longer need to get a new passes every term.
· Works as a regular transit card between terms. The new Ventra card has the ability to work as a regular declining balance transit card between terms over winter and summer break.
· Lost, stolen, or damaged Ventra U-passes are to be replaced at East-West University, not at CTA Headquarters .
· There is $50.00 replacement fee to be paid at East-West University at the time of the request.
