Meet Your Registrar

Norma A. Aguilar

Mrs. Norma A. Aguilar

Registrar

Hello, my name is Norma A. Aguilar. I am the Registrar here at East-West University. I provide administrative support to the Admissions Office, Financial Aid Office and Student Academic Advisor. I earned my Bachelor's in Communications, Media and Theatre at Northeastern Illinois University in 2019. As the daughter of immigrant parents and being an immigrant myself, I have always strived to achieve all my goals as much as possible. Growing up in a humble home, I saw how much my parents sacrificed for me to be able to have the education and career I have today. As a former student, I know how hard it was to work (3-4 jobs at a time) along with taking care of my little sister, mom and keeping up with my studies. I was never able to receive Financial Aid; yet with a mother that cleaned houses, a father that painted houses, and an uncle that stepped up to help, I was able to complete my Bachelors. Now that I sit in a role that I never thought I would have a chance to work in, I can honestly say it has even humbled me more. I am passionate about what I do. I am eager to help those in need. My door is always open. If I can't help you fulfill your request, I will always make sure to find someone who can.

Meet Your Counseling & Student Affairs Advisor (CSA)

Theresa

Mrs. Theresa M. Valdes

Director of Enrollment Management Services, Offices of Admissions & Retention [Domestic]

Hello, my name is Theresa M. Valdes and I am your Student Academic Advisor presiding over the Counseling & Student Affairs Office. I assist in a variety of ways including registration, program planning and degree audit reviews, SAP Appeals and Academic Planning, coordination of student activities, clubs and events, as well as, filling the role of the liaison between students, staff and faculty. I earned my Associate in Medical Assisting in 2007, my Bachelors in Organizational Management & Leadership in 2011, my Master’s in Comprehensive Business Administration in 2013, and my School of Ministries certification in 2017. By the time I turned 22 years old, I was a full-time student and single mother of five young children juggling school, three jobs, and homelessness, all of which proved not to be the easiest of roads to travel. However, despite what may seem to be impossible feats, I was able to overcome all the obstacles I was faced with and learned how to persevere. I wholeheartedly believe that everything happens for a reason and because I have traveled what I like to believe was my path backward, I can appreciate a struggle. I’ve also learned that despite our struggles, EVERYONE IS VALUABLE, regardless of where they come from, what color their skin is, or how much money they have/don’t have. I come to East-West University with an eagerness and excitement to be able to help the best students in the world and work alongside the most genuine staff and faculty. My work experience includes over 20+ years of management in both the higher education sector and restaurant industry, as well as, extensive volunteer work as an ESL and Bible Institute teacher.

My motto: “It’s not enough to believe, you must KNOW!” (You are worth the BEST, so live in that TRUTH!)
